The surge of individuals that have gotten back into biking has been alarming.

No seriously. Whether the cause may be the lack of money to do other items or the will need to be outside and moving, bik driving is back! And with that comes the require to get safe.

And with that comes the require to start wearing the appropriate bicycle helmet. But what kind of rider are you?

Floyd Landis admits used of drugs, accused Lance Armstrong

lance armstrong and floyd landis In a bizarre twist to a long-running saga about doping in sports, cyclist Floyd Landis has finally admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs.  He also has accused former teammate Lance Armstrong of using drugs to win his seven Tour de France titles.

Landis’ 2006 victory in the Tour de France was nullified by a positive test for synthetic testosterone and set off a series of legal skirmishes.

He told ESPN.com he used EPO, testosterone, HGH and also had frequent blood transfusions along with using female hormones.  Landis has sent a series of e-mails to cycling officials detailing the drug use, according to ESPN and other news outlets.

“I want to clear my conscience,” Landis told ESPN. “I don’t want to be part of the problem anymore. (continue reading…)

Who is Niño Surban?

niño surban To put it up simply, he is the most talented cyclist in the Philippines and he still has a lot of years ahead of him.  All he needs is the support.  He could’ve made it to the Olympics at Beijing had they decided to include 3 Asian countries for the MTB (mountain biking) event, sadly, they only got 2.

Niño is also a very unassuming guy.  If you meet him, you wouldn’t know that he has won lots of medals for our country.  But he will stand out among the rest if you see him in a crowd.  He is lanky and tall and has the features of a manic climber. (continue reading…)

Longing for a long ride

It’s almost 2 or 3 months now that I haven’t been on the saddle for a long time.  Due to hectic schedule and some important stuff to do, I haven’t join some weekend rides, long rides or night rides organized by some cycling groups here in Cebu city.

I miss the blazing heat of the sun while pedaling  on the road or climbing a hill.  I miss the mud on the trails when it’s raining before or on the day of the ride.  I miss the fun jokes shared by fellow bikers.
